Part of a convent dating from 1606
19/03/2006 17:03
This old, dark structure was a Jesuit school founded in 1606 and is made of old brick. It is located on the Rue de Lycée that I take to walk from the train station to the primary school and back to St. Pierre high school (lycée) where I work. Along this street, there are many schools: a big public high school, a private junior high and professional high school, a primary school for deaf children and several driving schools.

All that is left of the gate entrance to an old convent
19/03/2006 16:51
This is the Jacobins gate and is located halfway between the following two photos of the half-timbered houses. It dates from 1414 and was the entrance to a Dominican convent.
(I'm just starting to learn how to work on a blog and each time I add a photo, it is published before the ones I just put on already. Actually, I wanted them in the opposite order!! So this will not be very logical!)

Three half-timbered houses in a row

Here are some old houses, you can see how they are "jettied" over the street better here than on the following photo.

Here is an example of the very old houses still existing and used as houses, restaurants and shops near the primary school I teach at.
